Winter Dark and Light
Banish the ghosts and monsters of winter by inviting them to frolic around the fire and fuel your mini fictions. Don’t let the short days and holiday stresses get you down: join us for a quirky ekphrastic session where we will take inspiration for our stories from odd holiday greeting cards, Icelandic Yule ghouls, paintings of icy wintry beauty, snow sculptures, and assorted winter and holiday mythologies. Elves, effigies, angels, Krampus, and the ghosts of Christmas past in a world of art and ephemera to ignite your imagination. This workshop will take place asynchronously to accommodate different time zones and schedules, while we connect in a private Facebook group to share our uncanny winter tales. You will write from a variety of prompts and image options. Meg and Lorette will both offer feedback on your stories every day, and you can read and respond to the work of other writers. December 5, 6, 7, 2025 Asynchronous/online $140 USD ($195 CAD- please note, this will show up as Canadian dollars because this site is in Canada. Your bank will convert it automatically and it will be about 140USD) |
